One of the easiest games to understand is five card stud. The players are given a certain number of cards that you can’t change or add to. In order to play five card stud you will need a 52 card deck and two players or more.

Five card stud with an ante that is made by each player. After this the betting will occur after the players will receive cards.

The first card to each player is dealt face down; the second card is face up. The highest card will then begin the game by placing a bet or checking. If another player bets, the other players will have the chance to call the wager, raise the wager or can choose to fold their cards.

After the first round of betting, a third card is then dealt face up and there is another round of betting. This then occurs for the fourth and fifth card that are all dealt face up. Once the betting is finished, players will turn over their first card to show their final hands.

A single pair or a two pair will win in most cases. It is harder to make a straight or flush in five card stud poker.


There are two forms of betting structures which are standard, those being limit and no limit. In limit poker the players will agree upon on all bets and the bets made will need to be in this range.

In no limit, the players are able to bet freely and up to the amount of total chips that they have.

Table stakes means that no more money can be brought into play on a hand that has already started.

Five card stud poker is then an easy game to play and as the cards are dealt face up it leaves little room for players to hide what they have.
